SFILEN & Rapid Response Network Staff

SFILEN is a collaborative of 12 community-based organizations. Dolores Street Community Services (DSCS) provides fiscal leadership for the network, and SFILEN coordinating staff are housed along with SF and Bay Area Rapid Response staff in DSCS’s Immigrant Rights & Community Empowerment program.

Vanessa Pimentel, SF Rapid Response Network Coordinator

Vanessa Pimentel (they/them) is the daughter of first-generation immigrants from Mexico and a lifelong resident of Bayview in San Francisco. Growing up in the Bayview, they have witnessed the lasting effects of systemic and legislative barriers, disinvestment in public education, and environmental racism on Black and Brown families. To further their knowledge in community organizing and progressive campaigns, Vanessa obtained a dual bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Studies and Psychology with an emphasis in Community Organizing at Mills College. For the past eight years, they have worked with a variety of community organizations and labor groups, gaining an insight into different political and communications strategies. Vanessa is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Urban and Public Affairs at the University of San Francisco in order to bridge the gap and continue to provide people of color with equitable access to resources and opportunities.
